These are a few questions to get you thinking. They are not intended as a guide, nor are they comprehensive, so don’t be restricted by them.
- If a developer had the opportunity to build a house in your street, what sort would you prefer- Flats? Student accommodation? Houses? Large? Small? 2 storey? 3 storey? More? Modern looking? Traditional? How much parking?
- If a developer had the opportunity to build a housing estate somewhere in the Neighbourhood would you- object? Want restrictions on size and style? Think the roads and facilities would be affected? Want a high/ low proportion of affordable housing? Think we should/ shouldn’t expand into green fields? Think we should only expand on ‘brownfield’ (ie previously used) areas.
- Does the village of Englefield Green have a well defined centre? If not why not, or perhaps it does not need one?
- We have 10,000 residents and possibly 2000 students in our Neighbourhood- why are some of the shops in Victoria Street empty? Why has Egham (4000 residents) 2 supermarkets and we have none? What would make Englefield Green a more attractive place to shop and socialise? Or perhaps you don’t want more shops?
- We have major visitor attractions in our Neighbourhood (Magna Carta memorials and meadow, Saville gardens and the great Park, the Air Force Memorial)- How can that help us?
- Parking is an issue in many areas of Englefield Green.- what do you want for your road?
- Vehicles cause pollution and danger to other road users and pedestrians- are our speed limits correct? Are our road junctions safe?
- Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL) is part of our Neighbourhood. They have a master plan for the development of their campus – should they take more/ less account of the rest of the Neighbourhood when devising their plans, and if so how? And in what way?
